Say hello to my needle felted sculptures! I’ve always wanted to design toys, and I love the challenge of making something by hand that’s three dimensional but also true to my personal illustration style. I’m obsessed with pop culture and especially enjoy interpreting characters from film, television, and video games.
Needle felting is a method of soft sculpture that uses special barbed needles to tangle and lock wool fibers together. By repeatedly stabbing with the needle, the wool can be sculpted into virtually any shape.
Pieces like legs and tails can be made separately and attached to the main sculpture. Final details like eyes and decorative elements can be created by stabbing smaller quantities of wool onto the surface of the sculpture.
